Amanda Buckingham, MSW is inspired to walk alongside her clients throughout their therapy journey. She is motivated to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, and do her part by supporting people with emotional vulnerability and human struggles. Amanda loves how practical and tangible the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills are, and the way they can be applied right away to help cope with life's challenges.

Amanda received her Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Toronto and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). She has previously worked on multiple DBT teams serving clients with Borderline Personality Disorder, and specializes in Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT). In her spare time Amanda enjoys walking her dog, spending time with friends and dancing.

Favourite DBT Skill

"Opposite action all the way! I find that this skill is so helpful in closing the gap between thinking about something in a new way and feeling it in a new way."
